Verniece "Peg" Harris

93-year-old Mill Shoals, Illinois resident Verniece "Peg" Harris died at 12:37 a.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois. She worked as a bookkeeper at Rex Filter and was a mail carrier. Verniece visited 49 states and many countries. She loved quilting and talking with friends. Her favorite job was being a mother to Steve Cushman who preceded her in death. Her memberships included the White County D.A.R.

Verniece was born April 11, 1924 in Mill Shoals, Illinois to Charles O. Puckett and Lizzie Carter Puckett. She was united in marriage July 6, 1973 to Ray Harris.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law Paula Cushman of Madison, Alabama; a sister-in-law Ruth Puckett of Fairfield, Illinois; a grandson Chris Cushman of Cincinnati, Ohio; 2 great grandsons Max & Ben Cushman of Cincinnati, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and her devoted extended family in White County including: Faye Pollard, Dana Bare, Jackie Carter and Janet Vest Cushman.

Verniece was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, a son, and a brother.

Funeral services for Verniece "Peg" Harris will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday December 20, 2017 at the Mill Shoals Christian Church in Mill Shoals, Illinois with Brother Braden Willis officiating. Burial will be in Shrewsbury Cemetery in Mill Shoals, Illinois.

Visitation will be conducted Wednesday December 20, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Mill Shoals Christian Church in Mill Shoals, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Mill Shoals Christian Church and envelopes will be available at the church and Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois.
