92-year-old Fairfield, Illinois resident Virgil H. Harrell died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Christian Care Center in Ashland City, Tennessee. He was a shipping foreman for 39 years at Airtex Products. Virgil was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army and was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion, and VFW. Virgil was born February2, 1920 in Wayne County, Illinois to Oliver and Daisy Johnson Harrell. On March 16, 1941 he was united in marriage to Wilma Shehorn in Perryville, Missouri. Survivors include 2 daughters: Kay Shepard and her husband Denny of Nashville, Tennessee and Dorothy Dining and her husband Jim of Houston, Texas; a niece Gloria Lang of Fairfield, Illinois; as well as 4 children and 8 great grandchildren. His parents, wife Wilma, a son Allen Eugene Harrell, and a brother preceded him in death. Funeral services for Virgil H. Harrell will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Ellen Moore United Methodist Church in Fairfield, Illinois with Rev. Thomas Gholson and Rev. Brett Yates officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery of Fairfield. Wayne Memorial VFW Post 4535 and Anthony Wayne American Legion Post 176 will provide military rites. Visitation will be conducted at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield Friday, March 16, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial may be made to the Ellen Moore United Methodist Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
