Wendel Acrey

91-year-old Fairfield, Illinois resident Wendel Acrey died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday May 8, 2013 at Wayfair Restorium in Fairfield, Illinois. He was a farmer. Wendel was a Word War II veteran and a 50 year member of the Fairfield American Legion Post. Wendel was born February 14, 1922 in Monticello, Kentucky to W.G. and Lilly Tharston Acrey. He was never married. Survivors include his caregiver Sue Taylor of Fairfield, Illinois as well as several nieces and nephews. Wendel was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters. Graveside services for Wendel Acrey with Brother Carroll Kakac officiating will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Barth Cemetery of Enterprise, Illinois. Visitation will be conducted at the Nales Funeral Home of Fairfield, Illinois Saturday May 11, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to the service time.
