William S. "Bill" Carter

86-year-old Mill Shoals, Illinois resident William S. "Bill" Carter died at 6:45 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, Indiana. He was a self employed plumber and a school bus driver for Fairfield Community High School retiring in 2000. Bill was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church of Burnt Prairie, Illinois. Bill was born April 12, 1927 to Silas and Hattie Phillips Carter. He was united in marriage October 9, 1998 in Flora, Illinois to Charlene Mosburger. Survivors include his wife Charlene Carter of Mill Shoals, Illinois; 6 step sons Toby Maxham and his wife Neva of Fairfield, Illinois, Tim Maxham and his wife Barb of Fairfield, Illinois, Shawn Maxham and his wife Diane of Fairfield, Illinois, Ray Murphy of Mill Shoals, Illinois, Kevin Murphy and his wife Lea of Dyer, Indiana, and Joey Murphy and his wife Jean of Mill Shoals, Illinois; 2 step daughters Jane Deom of Mill Shoals, Illinois and Jean Wood and her husband Steve of Cavot, Arkansas; 2 brothers Bob Carter and his wife Dalene of Fairfield, Illinois and Jim Carter and his wife Kay of Evansville, Indiana; 24 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by 2 wives, his parents, 1 son, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Services for William S. "Bill" Carter will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Liberty Baptist Church in Burnt Prairie, Illinois with Rev. Tim Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Burnt Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Liberty Baptist Church of Burnt, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church or the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Comfort Room and envelopes will be available at the church.
